BalCCon2k24: Zero instrumentation observability based on eBPF

Observability plays a vital role in modern infrastructure, empowering teams to quickly detect and resolve problems. However, establishing comprehensive observability is not without its hurdles—it often requires significant time and resources, particularly due to the need for extensive instrumentation across all applications. In this presentation, we’ll examine how to collect telemetry data—including metrics, logs, and traces—leveraging eBPF technology. We’ll look at how eBPF can be used to monitor container activities such as network requests and filesystem interactions. Finally, we’ll discuss practical strategies for using this telemetry data to streamline and enhance troubleshooting efforts.
