Percona Live 2026: Connecting With Open Source Communities in Amsterdam

Percona Live brought together passionate open source community members, insightful talks from expert DBAs, and experienced developers from around the world. Coroot had a phenomenal time participating: we extend our thanks to everyone who stopped by to share their observability experiences with us during the conference.

Coroot Percona Edition #

Day One of Percona Live opened with an exciting announcement from Coroot Co-Founder Peter Zaitsev: Coroot and Percona have partnered to deliver Coroot Percona Edition.

Coroot Percona Edition will extend observability for Percona customers beyond advanced database monitoring to complete visibility of their entire infrastructure. Coroot AI Root Cause Analysis will help expedite incident recovery, giving Percona customers complete, eBPF-based context of their environment.

Founded by Peter Zaitsev, Percona has provided enterprise-level open source database solutions, services, and support to clients for 20 years. With shared open source values, the partnership is a natural alignment of missions to serve DBAs and SREs with reliable, vendor-free solutions for monitoring and observability.

Enterprise Observability and Database Architecture #

Nikolay Sivko, CEO and Founder of Coroot, shared his PostgreSQL Observability and Incident Detection expertise, showcasing how Coroot identifies early incident indicators and automatically runs inspections that can catch failures across checkpoints, autovacuum, replication, transaction ID aging, and storage growth.

On Day Two, the conference breakfast table was buzzing after “The Columnstore revolution,” featuring Clickhouse Founder Alexey Milovidov, and DuckDB Founder Hannes Mühleisen. Clickhouse is also the default database Coroot is configured to store telemetry in, on account of its advanced compression. Our favourite piece of folklore from the conference: DuckDB is partly named after Hannes’ pet duck, Wilbur, who kept him company while he developed the database on a boat.

Huge thanks to our long-time supporter, community member, and advocate Kris Buytaert for showcasing Coroot in his talk “10 Tools for your O11y Stack,” and for many great chats (including the history of “pizza box” server racks) at the booth.

Highlights from Booth Buddies #

Percona Live hosted a wide range of open source projects, companies, and clubs. Founder Daniel Guzmán Burgos showcased DBTrail, an Apache 2.0 “time-travel” solution for MySQL and PostgreSQL that allows users to see and undo any row change without restores, locks, or schema changes. Our thanks to Daniel for also being a long-time Coroot supporter (you can read his early experiments monitoring MySQL with Coroot on his blog.)

MariaDB showcased featured great teamwork between DevRel Simona Aleksandrova’s apt talent for developer storytelling (at one point recording engineers with a fork in place of a microphone, a nod MariaDB’s fork from MySQL) and the engineering expertise of Sergei Golubchik, who contributed to MySQL during its early years and shared insights on Vector Search during the conference panel.
